Summary: Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), which is the application of IoT in the industry, is part of the Industry 4.0 concept, which emphasizes the idea of digitization and connectivity across all production facilities, combining the strengths of traditional industrial automation with internet and sensor networks technologies, notably wireless sensors (BONAVOLONTÀ F. et al., 2017). The sheer number of devices, along with volume, speed and data structure, presents challenges for the industry, especially in the areas of security, data management, storage and networking. Faced with these challenges, industries are immersed in an endless universe of
technological options, which makes defining a roadmap complex.
When confronted with potentially innovative technologies, many industries are cautious in their adoption as they almost invariably involve the need for investment and often organizational change. Allied to this, in a context which industries are undergoing a digital transformation process, WHERE asset monitoring becomes fundamental to achieve better production results and
lower maintenance costs, this work aims to assist in choosing that technology. which best suits this purpose. Therefore, through comparative analysis of the most commonly used IIoT access network protocols in the world today, LoRaWAN, Sigfox, ZigBee and 6LoWPAN, it was concluded that 6LoWPAN is the most suitable technology for this application, taking into account the throughput criteria, latency, topology, overhead, security and energy consumption.
Keywords: Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, LoRaWAN, Sigfox, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN.
